About

Formed in 1982 in Essen, Germany, Kreator is a popular Thrash Metal band. They began rehearsing under the name Tormentor (1982-1984) counting in the initial lineup with Mille, Rob and Ventor playing a thrash metal heavily influenced by bands like Slayer and Venom, recording in this period, and under this name, two demos. Their style is similar to that of their compatriots Destruction and Sodom, differentiating themselves from the Bay Area thrashers by their brutality and speed.

The band tried to attach several guitarists until Jörg Tritze joined the band before recording their first album. So with Tritze in their ranks, the band starts their first tour. Tritze leaves the band after recording Extreme Aggression, being replaced by Frank “Blackfire” Gosdzik, then guitarist of Sodom.
