About This Band
Serenity is an Austrian symphonic power metal band formed in 2001 in Tyrol, known for their cinematic sound, historical and literary themes, and soaring vocal melodies. The band was founded by guitarist Thomas Buchberger and vocalist Georg Neuhauser, and they quickly established a style that blends the grandeur of symphonic metal with the speed and melody of power metal, often drawing comparisons to Kamelot and Sonata Arctica. Their early independent releases led to their debut album, Words Untold & Dreams Unlived (2007), which introduced their signature sound: lush orchestration, dueling guitar and keyboard solos, and Neuhauser’s clear, powerful tenor vocals.
A significant evolution came with the addition of female vocalist Clémentine Delauney (ex-Visions of Atlantis) for the albums War of Ages (2013) and Codex Atlanticus (2016), which added a dynamic, operatic dimension to their music. While Delauney later departed to focus on her band Visions of Atlantis, Serenity continued as a powerhouse quartet. Their lyrical focus often centers on major historical figures and events, such as Leonardo da Vinci (Codex Atlanticus), Leonardo da Vinci and Catherine the Great (Lionheart (2017)), and ancient Rome (The Last Knight (2020)). Despite lineup changes, including the departure of founding guitarist Buchberger, Georg Neuhauser has remained the driving force, steering the band toward increasingly ambitious and polished productions.
