About

For many years after their appearance, Accept underwent constant changes in their line-up, remaining essentially at the amateur level, making sporadic appearances at festivals. Their professional career began in 1976, when they were invited to play at one of the first rock ‘n roll festivals in Germany – Rock am Rhein. After the festival, the band received the offer and entered the professional studio for the first time, in order to record their first self-titled album Accept, an album that despite the band’s efforts was not very successful.

The first stable line-up consisted of singer Udo Dirkschneider, guitarists Wolf Hoffmann and Gerhard Wahl, bassist Peter Baltes and drummer Frank Friedrich. Friedrich and Wahl left the band after recording Accept, since then they did not attempt to continue in the music business. They were replaced by Stefan Kaufmann and Jörg Fischer, and with this line-up the band recorded I’m a Rebel in 1980. This was the album that caught the attention of the media, so they were then invited to their first TV show.
