ABOUT

Mark Jansen was After Forever’s main composer. His departure (caused by creative differences) explains both the relatively long gap between the second and third album, as well as the overall change in the songwriting style. After his departure, Mark Jansen founded Epica.

The band named themselves after a Black Sabbath song with the same name. The band actually started under the name Apocalypse, playing covers by Iron Maiden and The Cult.
When they decided to concentrate on their own work, they played death metal for a while until Floor Jansen joined the band, whereupon the band’s own style was soon formed.

Parted with Transmission Records in March 2006.
