About

Ozzy Osbourne was born on December 3, 1948 in Birmingham, England. A singer and composer, his real name is John Michael Osbourne, but at school, his friends nicknamed him “Ozzy” to shorten his Osbourne surname.

His professional career began in the late 1960s when he formed Black Sabbath. The band became famous with its dark and macabre rhythms and songs, releasing famous albums such as “Paranoid” and “Master of Reality”. After the 1978 album “Never Say Die”, Osbourne was kicked out of Sabbath, and there, Ozzy’s solo career began.

With his new manager and wife Sharon he formed his own band. The first album was released in 1980 in the UK and in 1981 in the US, and it obviously had a lot of typical Black Sabbath elements. The lyrics were always about dark things and the guitars were heavy and strong, but nevertheless, the band was better technically and able to do things different from the typical metal of the moment. With hits like “Crazy Train” and “Goodbye to Romance”, Blizzard of Ozz reached the seventh position in the UK rankings and the 21st position in the USA.
