About
Wikipedia Says: Type O Negative was a band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 1989.1 It is known as one of the first American groups to fuse gothic metal with doom metal: a sound characterised by distorted guitars and bass, low riffs, organ and synthesizer, plus the vocals of Peter Steele, singer, bassist and frontman.
The band also displayed a variety of non-‘gothic’ or ‘doom’ influences, and were also known for their black, self-critical sense of humour, despite dramatic lyrics emphasising themes such as sex, romance, depression and death. Their popularity grew in 1993 with the album Bloody Kisses, which contains provocative underground hits such as ‘Christian Woman’ and ‘Black No. 1’. Their most recent work is 2007’s Dead Again. The band broke up after Steele’s death in 2010 as, according to the other members, there was no point in continuing without him.
